Our Mission & Strategy

Neuromatch is a nonprofit organization, registered as a 501(c)(3) in the U.S., training the next generation of global computational research leaders.

Our mission is to accelerate scientific innovation by facilitating inclusivecollaborative, and global participation in the computational sciences.

We do this through high-quality educationmentored research opportunities, and career development programs — at the intersection of computational science, AI, neuroscience, and brain health — accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Inclusive by Design. We design for access, representation, and participation worldwide. We expand our reach through global partnerships and community-led outreach — working toward representation from every region of the world.

Open by Default. We believe open science is essential to inclusion and innovation. We train researchers to work openly and reproducibly — and we open-source our code and educational materials so others can reuse and adapt them. Our coursebooks, tutorials, and learning materials are freely available under a CC BY license — enabling anyone, anywhere to learn at their own pace.

Built Together. We build Neuromatch with our community, not just for it. We listen, learn, and improve based on feedback from volunteers, alumni, and partners — and we aim to make decisions transparently. Neuromatch is powered by thousands of researchers worldwide, pooling expertise, time, and resources to strengthen the global computational science ecosystem.

Our Approach

Computational Sciences at Global Scale. We believe computational approaches are essential for tackling grand challenges in complex systems research — and for equipping researchers worldwide with transferable, future-ready skills. Because computational research can be learned online and practiced remotely, it enables impactful collaboration across disciplines, industries, and borders.

World-Class Training.
We deliver rigorous, high-quality training designed to prepare researchers for real-world computational science. Our curriculum is developed by leading academics and practitioners from around the world, and we continuously improve our programs based on participant feedback — updating course materials, projects, and content to reflect the most current knowledge, data, and tools.

From Learning to Impact.
We focus on outcomes that accelerate discovery and expand who gets to contribute. We equip researchers with practical computational skills and research experiences they can apply immediately to real-world scientific questions — enabling them to turn learning into impact.

Ecosystem Strengthening.
We want to strengthen the global computational science ecosystem by connecting learners, mentors, educators, and partners across regions, disciplines, and communities worldwide. By building shared infrastructure, community networks, and pathways from training to research, we help turn individual opportunity into lasting field-wide capacity at global scale.

Three Strategic Pillars

Neuromatch is built around three strategic pillars that advance our mission and expand global participation in the computational sciences.
